Rollercoaster approved for Matagarup bridge

Matagarup bridge rollercoaster

It was reported last week that Perth has missed out on a number of high-profile tourism projects in recent years because of bureaucratic red tape but it has been revealed a bold plan to add a rollercoaster to Matagarup Bridge is set to get the green light*.

In what is believed to be a WA first, the State Government, Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority, Environmental Protection Authority and the Planning Commission are unanimous in support of the project.

The Matagarup rollercoaster, which will take advantage of the bridge’s existing design, is fully funded by private sector investors — another first for a tourism project in this State.

A spokeswoman for the local ratepayers association said residents “love everything about the rollercoaster” and were “looking forward to working with the council” to make it a reality.

The artist impression supplied above provides an indication of what the finished rollercoaster will look like, and a source connected to the project said that no delays or budget blow-outs were anticipated in its construction.
