AboutFuncats was established in 1976 to provide sail training for local schools. Catamarans were immensely popular at the time and several manufacturers were competing to produce boats. Originally the business used ‘Go Cat’ catamarans but later switched to the boat we still use today, the ‘Windrush 14’. In more recent times we have also introduced 15 brand new Hobby Wave catamarans.
The fun and excitement of our hire catamarans soon took off with the public. Over many years the business grew in size and popularity to the point where today it has become the largest catamaran hire business in Australia. These days it is not uncommon to have the entire fleet of 40 catamarans sailing on the Swan River in front of the city from 10 am-6.00 pm on weekends and holidays.
