AboutKnown as the "The Point"
at the Southern point of bank along the Swan river opposite Heirisson island Point Fraser was named after the botanist Sir Charles Fraser. The area was developed in 2003 as an innovative urban wetland to intercept drainage water and strip it of nutrients before it enters the Swan River. Point Fraser features a series of pathways and boardwalks with interpretive signage detailing the environmental, historical and cultural trails. You can also hire bikes and canoes at Point Fraser, take the kids to the playground or use the public barbecues. Lovely parkland and walkway alongside the Swan River all the way to Point Fraser. It is the Eastern gateway to the city of Perth. The uniquely shaped sculptures over the children’s play equipment kept the kids fascinated but were more for adding shade to the play equipment as well as architectural features. The Council even provides doggie poop bags and bins to place them in. Point Fraser is also known by its aboriginal name of ‘boodjargabbeelup’ which means the place of river, water and the land. It is named after the botanist, Sir Charles Fraser who extensively explored the Swan River in 1827 Point Fraser Foreshore Reserve is a must visit if you’re heading into the city for the day with older kids. The equipment in this park is more suited towards school-aged children due to the equipment and steep hills around the landscape of the park.
