 Located on the Subiaco side of Kings Park and Botanic Garden and accessible via Saw Avenue, this popular family area is an ideal place for picnic and recreation. There are picnic tables, free electric barbecues, open grassed areas and adventure play elements. Discover insects carved into the wooden furniture, balance on the logs like a lizard or bask in the shade of the trees. The Saw Avenue Amphitheatre is also located here and is a popular venue for children's theatre during the summer events season

MoreSaw Avenue Picnic Area is a quiet corner of the park, perfect for family picnics and barbecues. Thanks to the generous support of Variety the Children's Charity of WA, the precinct was refurbished in 2009 with modern community facilities and an innovative nature based play area with woodcarvings by local artist Nic Compton. New picnic and adventure play elements were added to the area in August 2014. The expanded design includes a fort, climbing net, bridges, tunnels and climbing logs, as well as new barbecues and picnic tables. The area is well-equipped for all visitors however it has been developed with the particular needs of children with disabilities in mind. In recognition of Variety WA’s support, part of the area has been named Variety Place. The Variety Pavilion remains a popular hire venue in this precinct, along with a number of hire venues available for group bookings.
